Raindrop Tee & giveaway

Gracious Threads has a new pattern - the Raindrop Tee! I was able to test the pattern for Jess.



The first one I did is in Riley Blake's jersey (95% cotton, 5% spandex). This fabric sews up like a dream! It has great recovery and drape.

Styled with her Titchy Threads Skinny Jeans, which finally fit her (though still not really skinny). The teeny pocket is a fun detail that my sweetie loves!

The Raindrop Tee has great, clear instructions for applying the neck binding - I still managed to mess it up a bit. After washing, the neckline binding puckered up a bit. I guess I should have used a little more length there. It's still wearable though.

Doesn't it have the prettiest profile? The hi-lo hem is just perfect. I chose to do the 3/4 length sleeves. The pattern also comes with a short sleeve option.

This one is sweatshirt fleece. It actually has an interesting story: My family moved out of province when my younger sisters were toddlers. A lady in the community had cut out sweaters for them and could not finish them before we left. She gave the cut pieces to my mom. They ended up sitting on the shelf the last - oh - 15 years? when my mom gave the pieces to me. They were just big enough for me to re-cut into a Raindrop Tee for my daughter!

Loving the pocket again! She chose the owl print for the pocket. I cut a lining for the pocket out of white cotton so it would be sturdier and not see-through.

Thinking this one will be perfect for fall with the heavier fabric and elbow-length sleeves.

Casual Princess: Snow White

My baby girl turned 3 yesterday! She is just starting to love fairytales and princesses. Next year we are going to Disneyland with our in-laws and I thought maybe some dressup clothes were in order that could do double-duty for visiting there too.

Little Snow White

I started with the Sweet Little Dress pattern, in size 3. I appliqued the oval-ish shapes on the sleeves and added a ruffle at the cuff, cut the body pattern into a waist-length bodice, and added a gathered skirt. The gathered eyelet lace is sewn in at the hem to look like a petticoat. The fabrics are all mid-weight cottons.

Abigail was eager to wear her "pincess" dress as soon as she got up this morning and became really excited about this prop - she had a great time parading around the yard with her apple!

A little rick-rack and a headband with a bow finish the outfit to look similar to the classic Disney Snow White. I decided to skip the high white collar and the cape, for now at least.

Mommy & Me Swimsuits!

Finished these two swimsuits for Abigail and me a bit ago. I'm really excited to have a tankini that is long enough first time ever!

Details
Pattern: Jalie 3023, skirted tankini for Abigail, briefs for me.
Fabric: Swimsuit print, Fabricland; white solid, Marshall Fabrics
Modifications: On both suits I angled about 1/4" in on each side of the top yoke pieces when sewing the binding on. It seemed to gape otherwise. Also added 3/4" to the length of the tankini top for me (my usual length adjustment is 1.5" - 2"). Aside from that, no mods. Everything is topstitched with a three-step zigzag.

I'm going to be brave a post a pic, not a very good one, I'm afraid. I did the shelf bra inside the tankini top and sewed in cups for added support. I just used cups from a bra that fit well - will see how well that holds up. I'm pretty happy with how the bottoms fit too. Nearly every suit I've ever tried has dragged from either the top or the bottom because of my length, so this is a treat!

Abigail loves her skirted suit. The size 2 is a little bit big on her skinny bottom when it's wet, now that she doesn't wear swim diapers anymore, but other than that it is perfect.

Next up - the Bombshell Swimsuit for me! I'm pretty nervous about trying this - it feels like a fluke that these two tankinis were so straightforward. This fabric from Girl Charlee just arrived in the mail, and I've gotten as far as printing the pattern. Wish me luck!
